2015年7月11日下午，香港淺水灣發生嚴重樹木倒塌意外，擊中一名路人頭部令其嚴重受傷，須要馬上送院治理，經搶救後幸好沒有生命危險，否則香港又多一人作為樹下忘魂了。

這次意外傳媒作出了跟蹤報導，可在以下連結取得：

從報導中獲述，這是一次較為罕見的整棵大樹從根冠對上部位折斷。 報導中也有人指出根冠位置已經發生了大量真菌子實體，如果此樹曾經接受定期檢查，而檢查的人沒有寫出根腐病的可能存在事實的話，檢查員可能需要負上 “專業性疏忽” 的罪名，可以被告上法院。

假如樹木檢查員及時如實的報告了這樹的即時危險狀況，和作出了合理建議，但負責的部門沒有作出合理安排回應的話，則責任可能會被推到政府部門頭上去，由其肩付全責。

香港樹木至今似乎慢慢的變成不定時炸彈，這個要由香港的綠化歷史說起，冰封三尺、非一日之寒，有人應該為此而負上責任。 以香港地少人多，人口密度高而且集，樹木又種得密密麻麻，經常塌樹塌枝來造成意外，無何奈何。

種樹是大自然去決定成敗，並非由設計師說了算。 本會相信香港的塌樹將會陸續有來，本會亦會跟進報導。

Dear Station Members,

In HK Repulse bay, a popular tourist attraction area, a big tree failed to hit a passer-by below to cause him serious head injury. The victim is now hospitalized, & be lucky that the wounding has not been fatal.

The media had shown that mushrooms in groups were seen at the base of the fallen tree. One count claimed that something like 90% of the trunk was badly infected with suspected fungal attack. The tree might have failed due to the structural weakness at the infected area.

Now the question remains on whether this tree had ever been inspected. If not, why not? Did the inspection report mention the fungal issue? Any recommendation? Were the recommendations attended in time & in good response? Could the incident be blamed on the ‘Act of God’?

This appeared to be a Govt tree. Someone may be held responsible for it. Tree inspection should not be taken as a favourite pastime with amateur skills. Mother Nature makes the rules.
