香港地少人多是一個不容爭辯的事實。 如果講到地少,那香港的平地更少,而平地往往被優先發展成為住房和工商用地,剩下有多的一點點,在沒有其他更優先的項目存在的話,還是可以考慮挺出來搞一點點綠化,特別是種樹。
由於平地少,山坡多,種樹唯有跑上山。 從英國人登陸一直種到現在,除了有特別原因不能種樹以外,香港大部份的山坡都有種樹,而且很多都已經種上了過百年。
但在山坡種樹,又是不是一定是件好事? 沒有成立 樹木辦 以前,很少人會留意到這個問題,每個人都會說: 綠化嘛,我支持。 成立以後,從近期的山坡不停塌樹,又破壞財產人又傷人,社會轉為開始關注這個問題。 究竟山坡種樹該種不該種? 怎樣比較好與壞? 種下去會有甚麼影響? 挑些甚麼品種較好? 怎樣護養?
是次講座,本會邀請了一位香港執業土力工程師兼樹藝師來主講,從工程角度來看山坡上的樹木,從事實和經驗角度出發,分析和討論優劣點,嘗試解讀山坡種樹在香港現存的機遇和挑戰,內容精彩,不容錯過。

1. Discussion on slope stability in relation with trees & plants growing on it.
2. Brief discussion in soil mechanism & soil composition of slopes in HK (including filled slope) --- slope soils & their accommodation in tree planting in relation to HK climate & rainfall? (Soil types: CDG,CDH , rocky stratum, thick alluvial layer, etc. , & their effects on slope stability)
3. Growing nature of trees & plants on HK slopes --- species, characteristics, & tree species recommendation for slope growing & on elevated grounds
4. General characteristics of trees & plants growing on slope --- growing perpendicular or vertically on slope, slope protecting, possible slope erosion, effects of roots penetrating hard stratum.
5. Factors of trees growing on slope to affect slope stability --- size, wind, soil friction, etc.
6. Merit / Demerit of trees & plants growing on slope --- Effects of trees & plants on Toe /middle/crest” od slope in relationship to human environment.
7. How to balance the merits and demerits of trees & plants planting on slopes & elevated ground?

CAA is proud to provide our 35th session of Arboricultural education on local tree planting to benefit our interested members. This time it is on the Tree Planting on slopes in HK. The speaker is a highly qualified local Engineer & Arborist Miss Maya Law.

Cost: HK$200 per person, payable by cash upon arrival into the Drop Box. Candidates will initial their presence in the Attendance Sheet provided.
